Measurable IEP Goals - From Creation to Revision

Refine your skills in creating measurable goals and objectives for students as well as tips for revising those objectives that you just haven't achieved yet! At the end of this session, you will walk away feeling more confident in your ability to contribute to a meaningful IEP. This workshop will first focus on writing measurable IEP goals connected to the IL Learning Standards in both academic and functional areas. Participants will explore tools to monitor goals and objectives that contribute to meaningful discussions as an IEP team.

Co-Teaching & Collaboration - Let’s Work Together!

It's been said that two brains are better than one, especially when they are working together! This workshop will provide participants with an overview of co-teaching as well as practical detailed strategies for implementation. Participants will be presented with six specific approaches and guidelines for selecting the best approach in various classroom arrangements. Participants will leave with tools ready to plan for and implement co-teaching in their classroom. This workshop is designed for individuals as well as co-teaching pairs.

Beyond Behavior - Addressing Students to the Core

Students come to your classroom with a variety of academic needs that you likely have a large toolbox of tricks to address. This training will provide information regarding the needs that students are presenting with that may not be “visible” to the naked eye as well as strategies for not only supporting students’ academic needs, but their social emotional well-being to better set them up to learn.

Learning in a Differentiated Classroom

It’s not new information that each student learns differently, has different strengths and areas of need and brings a different perspective to your classroom; however, how do you make a single classroom that sets up all students for success. Participants will be provided with examples of easy and effective classroom differentiation to meet the needs of your diverse classroom.

SOWIC Academy Mini-Series Sessions 2023-2024

SOWIC Academy will be offering a "mini-series" training session that will be provided remotely and each session lasts one hour. These trainings are meant to provide participants with useful information while being flexible to accommodate a busy schedule.

Behavior: The Basics!

Let’s start at the very beginning… a very good place to start! Participants will learn the basics of behavior, from the common terminology to initial best practices. Participants should leave this training feeling like they are able to talk a bit of “behavior” when problem solving with school teams.

Let's Dive into Data!

I say “Data” you say “Data”... “Data” “Data”! This training will focus on a very important aspect of changing behavior, which is ensuring you have objective and accurate data. This training will build on the behavior basics and now apply these terms to data collection. Participants will practice collecting data and leave with a variety of resources to collect data in their respective settings.

Classroom Management: Proactive Strategies

Now what?? You’ve learned the basics, you’re collecting data, but how do you actually change behavior? This training will provide participants with tools to change behavior with a positive approach, and more importantly… proactively! Participants will learn ways in which they can adjust their instruction to set up a positive learning environment and tools to address behaviors that impact the learning environment.

Gotcha! Let's Talk Student Motivation

In this last training of the series, participants will focus on increasing and maintaining student motivation. The training will provide ideas for structuring the classroom environment to engage and how to sustain motivation from August through to May, and beyond!
